Mock March
Mock March Post!
Even though the month of March has been over for 2 months now.. I wanted to share with you guys what has happened. It's been a crazy ride for both of us. First of all, I had Written Mock Boards. Phew! It was not what I expected at all. I wrote about it a week before the exam on my "Toothy Adventures by One Busy Bee" blog. The one thing that I was really bummed about was that I studied since January to prepare myself and yet when I saw the test in front of me, it felt like I didn't study anything at all. It was completely insane and I had a little panic attack I think lol! The worst part was that we had to wait until we knew what we got hahahaha! It was a good experience though. Now we are definitely scared and pumped up to get ready for the real one.
This is my picture right before the exam! My cute classmates made us baggies to wish us luck! <3 p="">

Also, another big event is that Curt turned 27 this year. My last post was probably about my thoughts on getting old and changing. Even if it wasn't my birthday yet, I knew that Curt and I were not getting any younger and it definitely made me think of what lies ahead for our future. It was insane!

My good friend Cassie and I... We are super excited that we passed hahahahaha! Phew!

Anyway, for his birthday, I got a deal on Groupon that had to do with swimming at The Crater up in Midvale. It was such a good price that I didn't want to let the opportunity slide and at the same time, we both have been talking about going there for awhile now. It was so hard to keep it a secret from him because I was so excited. Eventually, I cracked due to some unforeseen schedule changes since I also had UDA (Utah Dental Association) Convention that weekend. But he was still excited when I told him about it. Unfortunately. Curt had to work on his birthday and I had the convention going on that day as well. It was a bummer but we also made the most out of it later in the day.
We went the next day instead and it was a beautiful day to drive up to Midvale. It was a bit chilly but still nice. Here's the entrance to the Crater.

Once you enter The Crater, here's what the inside looks like! It's actually pretty neat!

We even asked the nice lifeguard/manager to take a picture of us. He was such a nice guy and even held my phone for me while we were in the water. The water temperature was very warm and it was so relaxing to be in there. For the whole hour we were there, it was peaceful and quiet since there were only 3 other couples. The water was dark blue and I think it was about 70-90 ft deep. Knowing myself, I was freaked out at first just because I couldn't see the bottom.. (yes, I have that phobia) But luckily, we were able to snorkel. It wasn't too bad after that. It was cool to see some people scuba diving in the bottom. There wasn't much to see but it was still cool to watch them. If you have the chance, you should go here and visit. I never felt so relaxed and serene since I gave up my monthly massages.
After, we just played outside the Crater and decided to walk around... The sun was so bright and the warm water made it possible for us to just enjoy soaking up in the sun and getting some Vitamin D and exercise.

These stairs felt like a good workout! LOL

Made it to the top of the Crater!

Goodbye 2nd semester!!! Hello 2 week vacation-ish...
Hello strangers!!! I am blogging again since I have the time to do it. Happy day!! Finals for 2nd semester is finally over! It's pretty crazy to think that I have survived 2 semesters.. 3 more to go. Woohoo!!! Also, I am officially a SENIOR! This means, I have one more year left and it's pretty exciting. Anyway, a lot has happened during these past few weeks.
First of all, one of my best friends in hygiene school Chelsey and her husband, Charles stayed at our place for almost a week and a half due to sad circumstances. At the place they were living in, the ceiling in their kitchen collapsed and exposed some mold. We weren't sure if it was toxic but they didn't want to risk the chances. Here's a picture of their ceiling when it first caved in.

Here are some pictures that I took when we ate Taco soup for dinner! Roommates!!
This is their stuff in the living room! Haha
Oh and they stayed with us during the most stressful week of the semester: FINALS!!! But it was ok, coz we totally managed and it was definitely fun. Janessa even came down and spent a day of studying with us. We went to the Farmer's market since Janessa hasn't been ever and spent lunch there. It was super fun! :)
This was Chelsey and I that same night! It was awful!!! We were so drained and exhausted!
After surviving the whole week with only 4-5 hours of sleep, this is how I felt after I handed in my last final and walked out of that classroom! The feeling was awesome, a good sigh, and relief! Phew!
It's been a crazy semester and crazy ride! It was definitely challenging but I can't wait til next semester and the next challenge we'll be facing. I still can't believe that I'm a Senior and that I only have 1 more year left to go. Kinda excited to see and meet our Juniors. Hopefully I can pull through and keep plugging along til the end. Even though it's our summer break, it's not really a break hahahaha! My fellow classmates and I need to study for what's called "End of the Year" exam. It's basically an exam that preps us for National Boards. The test is massive and gnarly. It contains all of the hardest classes we've taken from 1st and 2nd semester. Goodness!!! We never get a break at all!!! Oh by the way, here's my new schedule for next semester. What does yours look like compared to mine??? Hahahahaha! Do you still think your life sucks??? Try dental hygiene school.. you'll see what I'm talking about!

Holy March!
Ok.. so this post is really late because of how busy my life has been. Time to vent! I'm taking a break right now from studying since Finals week is almost here. This post has probably taken me a few weeks since I would add some info to it and save it as a draft bahahahaha! FML! LOL Anyhoo.. here's my story!
**Wow, ever since March started, school has been crazy busy. Wait, I totally take that back. School has always been really crazy. Finally after taking our 2nd set of exams, I was finally able to relax for just a little bit. So far life has been busy but calm at the same time. These past few weeks have been pretty exciting. I'll just put them in a list coz it makes it easier like that:
1. My poor niece who is 2 months old totally got sick with RSV. It was so heartbreaking seeing her hooked on tubes. She was in the hospital for 2 days and was hooked to oxygen for probably a week. So so sad! But she's all better now so we are all thankful and happy for that. Isn't she just adorable! This cute face totally makes my day every time her Mom sends a picture or a video of her.
2. My cute husband celebrated his 26th birthday! Woot!! Happy Birthday Curtis!! We went out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings with his wonderful parents and it was so awesome! B-Dubs never fails.. (except that they couldn't serve me their yummy buffalo chips because it shared a deep fryer with all the breaded stuff.. BOO!) Then I got him his awaited PS3 game "Tomb Raider" which by the way is pretty awesome. I watched him play several times. Even though I wasn't a fan of some scenes coz of the gore, the story was pretty epic. And lastly, I got him the iPilot Helicopter. He totally loves it and it was so cute seeing him learning how to fly it. He's gotten pretty good about it. :)

3. We also had to say goodbye to one of our funny and favorite professors. Prof. M! He had to leave to move on with life and do better things. We were so sad.. We will definitely miss his funny cat and basement stories.. and random tangents about life. It was the best part of Radiology lecture. Haha! We'll miss you Prof. M!!! :)
4. Our ward also did a Pinewood Derby this month! It was pretty cool. I've never been or seen one before in my life so it was definitely new to me!! It was amazing how much effort these boys and their families put into their little creations.
5. Randomness!!! Chelsey made a little dinner and learn with Surgitel loupes. And yes, even though I got my Orascoptic ones last month. I tried it out and definitely loved them. I had to say goodbye to my Orascoptic ones and went with Surgitel instead. I shall post a pic of what I got once I got them. But I had to post this random picture since I thought it was so funny!!! We were rockin these loupes!
6. And then.. the best part is that our school had the opportunity to teach oral hygiene to elementary kids! It was so so so fun! It was kind of funny because my friends and I were hoping we didn't get 5th graders. But we totally did! We were so bummed but it seriously turned out to be pretty good in the end! Here are some pics that we took!
Isn't my life so awesome? And there you have it. Being a dental hygiene student definitely has its ups and downs. The countless hours of studying, to the sleepless nights, to gaining pounds coz we always wear scrubs lol!! (at least that's how I feel!) But most of all, I definitely love the memories we've been creating as a class. It's been tough and rough but we will all get through it! 2 more weeks until our 1st semester is over!!! Woot!!!

M.I.A. and Valentine's Day
Fellow family and friends, I apologize for not updating my blog in the past 2-3 weeks. Life has been a chaos as some of my fellow classmates would agree. Where have I been and what have I been up to you may ask? I've only been in school for a month a half and it seems like school is already going fast. In the past few weeks, we have had 5 exams. NOT quizzes, but 5 EXAMS. Insane?? Yes! My physical and mental health are still trying to recover from "Hell Week." LOL! I shall explain why I gave last week its name.
So 2 weeks ago, we had our first Head and Neck Anatomy exam that consisted of 3 chapters (not bad). I actually got a good score on that so I was pretty happy. Then the week after, we had our first Embryology and Histology exam which consisted of again 3 chapter (still not bad) and I got a good grade on that as well. This last week is what I have referred to as "Hell Week" due to these reasons:
1. Monday: 2 exams on 2 of our harder classes: Morphology and Radiology on the same day and right by each other (both consisted of AT LEAST 5 chapters each)
2. We had to complete our Extra-Oral Exam process evaluation by the end of the week in clinic
3. Wednesday: Our Pre-Clinic Theory exam which consisted of almost 15 chapters total! 15!!!!!!!
4. Due to studying so much, all of us looked like the cast of "The Walking Dead" with dark circles under our eyes and totally zoned out in every class
5. Our fluoride paper was due on Thursday.
6. SADHA council held meetings to finalize our budget for our class.
*Note: In our school, we have what we call a SADHA council. It is the Student American Dental Hygiene Association. It's basically a student body council for the whole class. Even though I was not planning on running, my name was on it 3x for 3 different positions (President, VP, and Secretary). I don't know if it's because people like me or they're trolling and want me to be busy so I can fail hahahahaha! But anyway, I got elected as the Vice-President. I'm pretty happy about our council and now we're trying to get everybody involved and put them to work. :)
So what do you guys think? Pretty busy, eh?! This coming week we still have 2 exams: Preventive Dentistry and Spanish. Also, several of us have ordered our loupes. Loupes are very essential in the dental field. It helps us get the job done by helping us with our posture and back and we look very silly wearing them. It's still pretty cool though! And I got my business cards in the mail. I mean, it's not a necessity for school but it helps put our names out there in the market to get some patients on our chair. Come see me when I start seeing patients next semester. We'll have a blast!!!! :)
I also wanted to thank my sweet sweet husband for putting up with me through this whole week. It's been crazy and I even forgot about Valentine's Day. I came home and he was making dinner for us since he knew I was exhausted and that I didn't want to go out. He had flowers on the table and a chocolate bar.
He made awesome steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies for dinner! yummy!!! So grateful for him! <3
Well, another week is coming so I better put my game face on!!! Have a great week everyone! :)

Our dining table has become my study corner!
Chelsey D. (our Historian) posted this!!!! This is what she felt after a SADHA Budget meeting LOL
I think this is pretty close to the kind of loupes that I got. I will have to post a pic when I get them. :)
My business cards have arrived!!!! Isn't it so cute??!!!

Still breathing and surviving + a baby in the family!
So far, I have made it through my first 2 weeks of hygiene school and honestly, it was rough. Our professors are great! Some are intimidating and some will make you laugh your head off. I'm not going to lie that it has been a stressful 2 weeks. And yes, I have already shed some tears from the stress and panic of not being able to get any homework or reading done. It's been one heck of a ride so far. A lot of memorization, lots of homework, and LOTS of studying. Holy caboodle!!! I was crying to Curt one night and asked him why I even joined this program and that I don't think I could ever do it. Right now, we are taking 9 classes summing up to 18-19 credits. Aaaahhhh!!!! One thing that stuck in my head was that one of professors told us that we already got through the hardest part.. Getting accepted in the program! I mean, I get what he was saying just because he knew that we were already stressing out about our classes, but we are the lucky ones of getting accepted and getting in. If they didn't see us having the potential of getting through this extensive and accelerated program, we would not be in our chairs in class right now. Those words of wisdom definitely made me feel a lot better about myself. I'm also glad that I met and made a few friends already. Our class is pretty awesome. Anyway, it's our 4-day weekend coz of the holiday. Thank goodness!!! It's nice having a break.. we totally needed it.
These are the classes that I am taking this semester:
- Morphology
- Radiology & Radiology Lab
- Head and Neck Anatomy
- Pre-Clinic Theory & Pre-Clinic Lab
- Embryology and Histology
- Preventive Dentistry
- Spanish
Here is my lovely schedule!!!
Also, one lovely thing happened last week!!! My sis-in-law Holly had her baby!!! She is so adorable!!! Curt and I were so happy when we finally got the message at around 2:30 am that she was born. Welcome to world Ivy Lynn Simmonds. We love you!!!
Have a great holiday weekend everyone!!! Be safe!!! xoxoxo

Ashamed as it is...
Wow! I can't believe it's been over a year since my last post. Holy cow!! I am so bad at this blogging thing when I get busy as a bee. This is the 2nd time I've done this. First, I tried making a blog right when Curt and I first got married, 2nd time was last year.. I was pretty good about it and then got a little busy and discouraged since I feel like no one really cares about our lives.. except for family and friends that we see very often haha!!! Oh well, so just an update of where we are right now since my last post.. Or at least the things that has happened in the year 2012.
1. We have moved twice in 1 year! Yes, we are apartment hoppers... and NO, we don't like moving! We actually hate it. We are now currently living in Provo, UT.
2. I got accepted into Utah College of Dental Hygiene. In 1 1/2 years, I will be an RDH! Woohoo! (Well, I'm hoping I do well and pass lol!)
3. Curt is officially a Cougar. He got into BYU-Provo and will be going into Nursing (More on the story later.. it's actually pretty cool.)
4. Mama and Papa are here in the U.S.A. Who knew that my grandparents from the Philippines would live to see the day and actually travel to the U.S. It's pretty awesome.
5. Oohh.. Curt and I will be having a niece soon. We are very excited to have a niece in the Buckmiller family. We're just waiting for her to come... Maybe next week?
6. I guess I became a model and my face is on Uptown Cheapskate's Winter Edition on Facebook. Pretty cool!
7. I finally got a Kitchenaid Mixer for Christmas.. and our very own washer and dryer! (Obviously, I wasn't too excited when I opened the package LOL!)
8. We got to see Switchfoot, Demi Lovato, and Nightwish in concert. It was so awesome. :)
9. I don't get migraines that much anymore.. Thank goodness!
10. Went to my very first Gluten-free expo. I was so overwhelmed with the gluten-free products. I was totally in heaven. I even got this shirt coz I thought it was awesome.
11. Let my girly-girl side let loose.. Bad part of it is now I am slightly obsessed with make-up. I totally bloomed way later than expected.
12. Nope, I'm not pregnant yet!
So these are some highlights of our 2012. Since I tried to blog daily the last few times I attempted to blog, I am going to stick to my New Year's resolution and blog weekly. I want to share with everyone my weekly happenings of this year.. and our journey of 2013. Happy week everyone!
