Welcome to the Blog

Curtis and Roxanne!!!

We are the Buckmillers!! Welcome to our blog! This will be your guide to who we are, what we're like, and basically what happens in our lives. The name is Roxanne! I'm a crazy stress-case student, a tiny wife, a novice chef, and a trying-hard home decorator. The eternal companion is Curtis! A student, a talented graphic designer, a rockin' guitar player, and one very patient husband!!! Haha!! To be honest, I'm not a very good blogger.. I actually started a few months ago and as you can tell, it's not very up to date! But I'll try my hardest since I made a promise to myself that I'll try to be good this year about everything from sending birthday cards, to hanging out with friends, and to even updating my very own blog. Thanks for stopping by.. Stay a little and wander around a bit. You'll never know, you might find something that you never knew about us before! Enjoy!! :)

FACTS ABOUT US

Q: When and where did you get married?
A: Roxanne: We got married on January 2, 2010 at the Salt Lake Temple. It was a very memorable day for me... but then at the same time, the day went by so fast, I hardly remember what happened during our reception. It's crazy how you invest so much time planning an event for one day and you don't even realize that it's done in a blink of an eye.

Q: How did you two meet?
A: Curt: FACEBOOK!!
Roxanne: Curt would always tell people we met on Facebook. It technically is true, but I would say we met through "mutual friends." It's kinda funny sometimes when people think that we met on his mission which is totally bogus!!! I was attending high school, enjoying being a senior back home in California when he left for his mission.

Q: Where did Curt serve his mission?
A: Curt: Philippines Quezon City Mission. It was AWESOME!!! I love the people there and I always keep in contact with everyone I met.. specially my converts.
Roxanne: "nods" He talks to them all the time on Facebook. We recently went there in January as a 1st year anniversary thing and it was great. I was kinda scared in some of his areas since I seriously didn't know where in the world I was..

Q: How was your first year together??
A: Roxanne: To be honest, It was tough! Our apartment was cute and small but we had some bad luck living there. We were constantly sick! Especially me! I seriously thought that I was allergic to being married or something. But I think it was mostly our apartment like mold growing, furnace was leaking gas, and something else.. I don't know! Also it was the stress of adjusting to married life. But at least we made it and survived through our first year. We recently moved to South Holladay and we are way happier and way healthier.. and not to mention, we got a huge place!! :)

Q: Any plans of having kids soon?
A: Roxanne: No!!!! Not right now!!! I'm too young hahaha.. we're both too young to have kids. We've discussed this topic before we got married. I want to finish school first before becoming a mom. We both agreed that we need to be financially secured before having kids. Being a parent is a tough job and we want to be ready when that time comes.

Q: What do you guys like to do?
A: Roxanne: We like doing tons of things. We love hanging out with family, friends, etc. We like to go to the movies... and to eat out! Of course as a girl, I also love shopping!!! Curt likes to play his guitar, play video games, or tinkering with his Droid. We also love traveling. One great thing about having family out of state is having a reason to visit them. My family lives in California so we try to go there a lot. We visited Cali 8x last year. It was crazy! It was either for graduations, birthdays, weddings, reunions! Talk about spending a lot of money on gas!!

Q: What are you going to school for?
A: Curt: I'm going into Nursing. I was going to go for med-school but it hit me right before school started. I just saw myself becoming a nurse and eventually a Nurse Practitioner after I'm done. I just know I want to have a good career and be a great dad to my kids.
Roxanne: I'm a Dental Assistant right now. I'm also currently in a very intense Dental Hygiene program studying to be a registered dental hygienist. I can't wait to get my BS degree and start working as an RDH. I love school but man, this program has worked my butt off pretty good. I have never been so serious in my life and believe me when I say this, tears have been shed my friend. There is definitely no room to play around when you're in dental hygiene. I love it though! I have met some amazing people.

Q: What's with Curt calling Rox "Ber??"
A: Curt: Well I'm not a fan of couples calling each other "babe" or "baby." It's so ugly and it's just not my thing. One day, Rox called me a "goober" coz I was being silly and I think we were listening to Spongebob singing "Goofy Goober." Finally, Rox was like, "I'm calling you 'goober' from now on coz you're always being silly." Then I said, "Well you make me a goober, so we should be goober together. I'll be 'goob' and you're 'ber!'" And that's how it all began..

Q: What are you guys up to now?
A: Roxanne: We're just being busy going to school and work. That's all we do nowadays unless we make plans with friends to hang out or something. Curt is a graphic designer at his dad's company. He is also a certifed CNA and EMT. He's a CNA at Intermountain Healthcare in the Neuro unit. He loves it! I'm a dental assistant and working with the best boss and co-workers in a small and growing dental practice. And like I said earlier, I'm currently in a Bachelor's program for Dental Hygiene. I'm so excited to graduate soon! We're just enjoying life right now as hubby and wifey and preparing ourselves for what's to come. NO BABIES yet!!! Hahahahaha!
