Birthday Month + Moms + Marianas Trench = an Awesome May!!!!
So I never really got to blog over my spring break.. why? Coz I was just enjoying not doing anything and I think blogging to me was like homework haha! Anyway, spring break was fun and we went to Moab for some Buckmiller Jeeping! It was awesome but I didn't get to drive a lot this time just because I just wanted to enjoy the ride.
Starting the month of May was pretty rough just because school started right before my birthday and Curt started his CNA night classes. Boo!! I spent my whole birthday in class from 8-5 pm. It was probably the longest and roughest day in school since it was a new semester and we were bombarded with tons of paperwork and information. It was insane! But I tried to stay positive because it was my birthday and being in school won't ruin it for me. Besides, it was so cute when my sweet friend Chelsey and her husband Charles took me out to dinner for my birthday since they refused to let me spend my special day all alone at home. I thought it was so cute of them to do that for me.
Best parts of my birthday though were the thoughtful gifts that I received from my family, my in-laws, and from my best friend Eri from Japan! Totally unexpected that I would get some yummy chocolates from Chocomize from her. It was super delish! What was so cool about it is that she designed all the chocolate bars for me! She remembered I loved teddy bears so there were gummy bears and teddy grahams! Yummy!
The best part about the month of May besides celebrating my birthday is of course celebrating Mother's Day! These wonderful ladies are the reason why I want to be a mom someday... and I mean the SOMEDAY part hahaha! Not sure when that's going to happen but it will sometime in the future lol!
My countdown for the month of May!!

My chocolates from Eri! Ever heard of Chocomize Chocolates??
It had a candle inside the package lol!!!
My awesome gifts from my family! Of course a purse is a necessity every year.. That's what my mom said! LOL!
My wonderful gifts from my in-laws not related to school! Oh and I got a gift card from H&M from Carrie. It wasn't on the pic coz it was already in my wallet ready to be used hahahaha!
The best part about the month of May besides celebrating my birthday is of course celebrating Mother's Day! These wonderful ladies are the reason why I want to be a mom someday... and I mean the SOMEDAY part hahaha! Not sure when that's going to happen but it will sometime in the future lol!
My Mom, my momma-in-law Jill, and My mama!!!
My wonderful sis-in-law Holly with her cute daughter Ivy! Isn't this picture just adorable?!
On to the most epic part of May!!! MARIANAS TRENCH!!!!! Aaaahhh we got to see them last night at The Complex in Salt Lake City! It was so awesome because we got to be so so close to the stage. Like literally, it was super epic and awesome. We have been waiting for this moment and it finally came true last night. I was so so so happy coz Joshua Ramsey the singer pointed at me and I pointed back. Totally a cool connection right there! Carrie and I lost our voices after the show but it came back. But man, we were all sweaty and gross from jumping around and just rocking it out. That's when you know it was an awesome concert! LOL!!! Can't wait to see them again!! If you haven't heard about this guys, better check them out coz you are missing out!!
June is coming and that means snow cone time!!!!
My lady friends and I after school! I was the only one wearing scrubs because I had to be the clinician for the week while these beauties got to be patients!! Huge shaved ice = EPIC!!! :)

My crazy April and Spring break has sprung!!!
So I know that I have been really sucky at this "blog once a week" thing but I totally underestimated the busy life of a hygiene student. To make it up, I shall repeat what I did for the month of March like my last post and ramble on about my last month of 1st semester.. so here we go!
So.. the month of April was very very very and I cannot stress how VERY stressful it was for myself and my fellow classmates. It was insane and crazy. Finals week was a couple of weeks away and there were so many things to do. But our class historians and their committee were so nice to come up with a cookie social to help us take our minds off of Finals for at least a couple of hours. Here are some pictures. Of course I couldn't eat any of it except for the sliced apples with Nutella! :)

Hahaha... my face in this picture is just weird!
These gals are awesome!!!
Cassie & Me (She's totally my IDOL!)
Our team for the guessing game! Awesome!!
Alright, enough of fun pictures! Hahaha! So after the cookie social, the stressing began. Tons of homework to catch up and trying to finish all our clinical PEs and Lab Activities. Not to mention, due to stress and our clinical team having the hardest clinical instructors at the end of the semester, tears were definitely shed. It was no fun at all! But, even though it was a rough time I have managed and figured out my study schedule and with the help with my smart classmates, this is what I came up with. (Unfortunately, it totally fell apart after trying to keep up with it!)
(don't know if you can read it, but it's pretty insane!)
Monday: Anatomy, Radiology, and Morphology
Wednesday: Embryology, Pre-Clinic Theory, and Spanish
Thursday: Preventive Spanish
So who has had 7 finals in one week? I have! It was a crazy week and definitely felt like I was the cast of The Walking Dead even though I vowed not to ever see a preview nor an episode of that show. (I am not a fan of gore and scary stuff in general.) But running on 5 hours of sleep every day of Finals week with an hour nap before studying was dreadful but at the same time it paid off. We got our grades were up and I was very happy about it! :)
After the last exam of the semester, my dear friend Chelsey and I went to meet up with some of the gals at IHOP for breakfast. It was so fun not to worry about any homework or deadlines or anything school-related.
Miss these gals already!!!
Smiles everywhere!!!
I went to work on Friday and Saturday and when I got home, it was so nice to change, plop on the couch, and catch up on my tv shows! It was super super nice!! :) These are some pictures that I took and are on Facebook and Instagram after our last finals were done.
Date night with the Dietrichs at Nickel City!!! :)
Getting our eyebrows waxed.. Chelsey was going home so she wanted to look good! I just tagged along! $5 for waxing, not bad!
Saying goodbye to my books for now and putting them in a safe place! Hahaha!
Got bored on Sunday afternoon and baked some GF cookies!!!
Oh and last but not least, we took some class pictures too! Look how awesome we look!

Holy March!
Ok.. so this post is really late because of how busy my life has been. Time to vent! I'm taking a break right now from studying since Finals week is almost here. This post has probably taken me a few weeks since I would add some info to it and save it as a draft bahahahaha! FML! LOL Anyhoo.. here's my story!
**Wow, ever since March started, school has been crazy busy. Wait, I totally take that back. School has always been really crazy. Finally after taking our 2nd set of exams, I was finally able to relax for just a little bit. So far life has been busy but calm at the same time. These past few weeks have been pretty exciting. I'll just put them in a list coz it makes it easier like that:
1. My poor niece who is 2 months old totally got sick with RSV. It was so heartbreaking seeing her hooked on tubes. She was in the hospital for 2 days and was hooked to oxygen for probably a week. So so sad! But she's all better now so we are all thankful and happy for that. Isn't she just adorable! This cute face totally makes my day every time her Mom sends a picture or a video of her.
2. My cute husband celebrated his 26th birthday! Woot!! Happy Birthday Curtis!! We went out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings with his wonderful parents and it was so awesome! B-Dubs never fails.. (except that they couldn't serve me their yummy buffalo chips because it shared a deep fryer with all the breaded stuff.. BOO!) Then I got him his awaited PS3 game "Tomb Raider" which by the way is pretty awesome. I watched him play several times. Even though I wasn't a fan of some scenes coz of the gore, the story was pretty epic. And lastly, I got him the iPilot Helicopter. He totally loves it and it was so cute seeing him learning how to fly it. He's gotten pretty good about it. :)

3. We also had to say goodbye to one of our funny and favorite professors. Prof. M! He had to leave to move on with life and do better things. We were so sad.. We will definitely miss his funny cat and basement stories.. and random tangents about life. It was the best part of Radiology lecture. Haha! We'll miss you Prof. M!!! :)
4. Our ward also did a Pinewood Derby this month! It was pretty cool. I've never been or seen one before in my life so it was definitely new to me!! It was amazing how much effort these boys and their families put into their little creations.
5. Randomness!!! Chelsey made a little dinner and learn with Surgitel loupes. And yes, even though I got my Orascoptic ones last month. I tried it out and definitely loved them. I had to say goodbye to my Orascoptic ones and went with Surgitel instead. I shall post a pic of what I got once I got them. But I had to post this random picture since I thought it was so funny!!! We were rockin these loupes!
6. And then.. the best part is that our school had the opportunity to teach oral hygiene to elementary kids! It was so so so fun! It was kind of funny because my friends and I were hoping we didn't get 5th graders. But we totally did! We were so bummed but it seriously turned out to be pretty good in the end! Here are some pics that we took!
Isn't my life so awesome? And there you have it. Being a dental hygiene student definitely has its ups and downs. The countless hours of studying, to the sleepless nights, to gaining pounds coz we always wear scrubs lol!! (at least that's how I feel!) But most of all, I definitely love the memories we've been creating as a class. It's been tough and rough but we will all get through it! 2 more weeks until our 1st semester is over!!! Woot!!!

UDA Convention + Birthday Party + Baby Blessing!
Wow! What a weekend! After being so busy for awhile, I finally had a little break from school. Last week, we only had 3 days of school due to the UDA Convention up in SLC, UT. It's a convention where everyone in the dental field geeks out about freebies (specially toothbrushes) and all the cool stuff that is related to dentistry. Even though we were only in school for 3 days, it felt like a drag. I think it'z coz everyone was just so tired from the previous weeks! I can't blame them! Anyway, it was so much fun to go to the convention and just play around. First, my friends who didn't get their loupes yet were so hilarious. Both Carlie and Chelsey kept going back and forth between the Orascoptic booth and the Surgitel booth. It was funny since we would check up on them once in awhile to see the progress. While they were shopping for loupes, we walked around and saw a bunch of gals from our class. It was so awesome to see everyone looking so glamorous. It was awesome! We had so much fun and after a whole day at the convention, our feet were just sore to death. My favorite part was when we went to the massage booth and there were these machines that jiggle your whole body. I did use the word "JIGGLE" coz it totally does! And yes, we were there from 8:30-4:00 LOL! But on the way home, we passed by the SLC Temple since Chelsey hasn't seen it before. Like always, it looked gorgeous! :)
Another story was that Curt's uncle John turned the BIG 60 this weekend! It was so fun to see the family from Maryland and Seattle. Too bad Nate and Tiff and little Nora couldn't come! (I was so excited to see little Nora too! Yes, I'm talking to you Tiff if you are reading this haha!) It was fun though. Uncle John is so fond of anything chocolate that everything on the table were basically made with chocolate. It was choco-tastic but after that, I'm all chocolated-out for awhile.
And lastly, little Ivy was blessed this past Sunday. She looked so cute and just so adorable in her dress. Jim was funny to try to put her to sleep before the blessing so she doesn't get too cranky. When Mike and Ivy were called up along with all the Priesthood holders in the family, I couldn't help but tear up while listening to the blessing that Mike was giving her. It was just an awesome experience. It was funny to see the chapel half occupied by our side of the family and Mike's. It was pretty cool! I was like "I love this, we have such a huge family!" It definitely made me miss the gatherings in the Philippines. But anyway, that is the summary of my weekend! Hope you all had a good one! Now it's time for me to pack it up and study for another set of upcoming exams! Good luck to me!!!

M.I.A. and Valentine's Day
Fellow family and friends, I apologize for not updating my blog in the past 2-3 weeks. Life has been a chaos as some of my fellow classmates would agree. Where have I been and what have I been up to you may ask? I've only been in school for a month a half and it seems like school is already going fast. In the past few weeks, we have had 5 exams. NOT quizzes, but 5 EXAMS. Insane?? Yes! My physical and mental health are still trying to recover from "Hell Week." LOL! I shall explain why I gave last week its name.
So 2 weeks ago, we had our first Head and Neck Anatomy exam that consisted of 3 chapters (not bad). I actually got a good score on that so I was pretty happy. Then the week after, we had our first Embryology and Histology exam which consisted of again 3 chapter (still not bad) and I got a good grade on that as well. This last week is what I have referred to as "Hell Week" due to these reasons:
1. Monday: 2 exams on 2 of our harder classes: Morphology and Radiology on the same day and right by each other (both consisted of AT LEAST 5 chapters each)
2. We had to complete our Extra-Oral Exam process evaluation by the end of the week in clinic
3. Wednesday: Our Pre-Clinic Theory exam which consisted of almost 15 chapters total! 15!!!!!!!
4. Due to studying so much, all of us looked like the cast of "The Walking Dead" with dark circles under our eyes and totally zoned out in every class
5. Our fluoride paper was due on Thursday.
6. SADHA council held meetings to finalize our budget for our class.
*Note: In our school, we have what we call a SADHA council. It is the Student American Dental Hygiene Association. It's basically a student body council for the whole class. Even though I was not planning on running, my name was on it 3x for 3 different positions (President, VP, and Secretary). I don't know if it's because people like me or they're trolling and want me to be busy so I can fail hahahahaha! But anyway, I got elected as the Vice-President. I'm pretty happy about our council and now we're trying to get everybody involved and put them to work. :)
So what do you guys think? Pretty busy, eh?! This coming week we still have 2 exams: Preventive Dentistry and Spanish. Also, several of us have ordered our loupes. Loupes are very essential in the dental field. It helps us get the job done by helping us with our posture and back and we look very silly wearing them. It's still pretty cool though! And I got my business cards in the mail. I mean, it's not a necessity for school but it helps put our names out there in the market to get some patients on our chair. Come see me when I start seeing patients next semester. We'll have a blast!!!! :)
I also wanted to thank my sweet sweet husband for putting up with me through this whole week. It's been crazy and I even forgot about Valentine's Day. I came home and he was making dinner for us since he knew I was exhausted and that I didn't want to go out. He had flowers on the table and a chocolate bar.
He made awesome steak, garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies for dinner! yummy!!! So grateful for him! <3
Well, another week is coming so I better put my game face on!!! Have a great week everyone! :)

Chelsey D. (our Historian) posted this!!!! This is what she felt after a SADHA Budget meeting LOL
I think this is pretty close to the kind of loupes that I got. I will have to post a pic when I get them. :)
My business cards have arrived!!!! Isn't it so cute??!!!
